T'ang Quartet- From Bach to Madness...
To all the T'ang Quartet concerts I've been to, they've never once failed to awe me. To all the T'ang Quartet noobies, allow me this post to ramble on their inspiring performance.
Recalling 18 September 2005
It was a busy day, I woke up to get my hair cut for $10 for quite a fashionable cut- which sadly, eveyone thinks it looks the same. Attended the 3rd service and met my concert
kahkis after church. Walked around Plaza Singapura and then went to the concert.
To the interesting stuff.
They played 3 movements by JS Bach, Beethoven and Schumann respectively. Featuring Pianist player Albert Tiu came on stage and joined the quartet for the last movement. I enjoyed the last 3 pieces and although one of them was a mordern piece, it was truly astounding.
After the concert,
kahkis and I were loitering around the reception area waiting for the que of post concert autograph session to disperse. That is, until SY spotted her favourite pianist player, Yusuke Komura. We got flustered and chased after him.
(what a sight...) Being the enthusiastic
self-confessed photographer, i gleefully took some shots. With him. =p SY approached a hesitant Yusuke for signatures whom humbly yet alluringly protested, "But I didn't even performed!" But we still got our autographs.
Anyway, the que for the post concert autograph session was begining to clear, so we joined the que. About 5 minutes later, it was our turn. Albert Tiu was sitting in the first seat (from where we were standing) followed by Violist, Lionel Tan, Violinist 1, Ng Yu Ying, Violinist 2, Ang Chek Meng (!!!) and Cellist, Leslie Tan. We handed over our concert programme booklet to them. Albert Tiu was sincere enough to ask everyone what their name. In my case, To Gina, best wishes. Albert Tiu.
The T'ang Quartet remembered us!!!!
They were like, "Hi girls." We were known as the Preview girls, and we had turned up for two concerts in a row. Anyway, they thanked us for coming and stuff. Leslie, as usual, was grasping every opportunity to advertise his next concert, where two musicians were coming from the States. Don't worry Leslie, we'll come.
To see the T'ang Quartet. We took photos and then proceeded home trying hard not to shriek at every passerby. Leslie's words were etched in my mind as we walked towards City Link. "Thanks girls. It's always glad to see you. " Yea. It's
always glad to see you guys too.
* Photos will be posted when they're ready. `Ahem. Or until I've finish torturing my
kahkis. XD
